Exo is another word for outside [e.g exoskeleton]. Therefore exoplanet means outside planet.

What is an exoplanet?

An exoplanet is a planet that is said to be outside of our Solar System. [E.G. Wasp -2b is an exoplanet that only takes 2.2 days 53hrs and 48 mins to orbit its star.] Another example is Kepler-22b -  it's a potentially a rocky planet, larger than Earth. It takes 289 DAYS for it to orbit its star [more accurately, 289 days, 21hrs and 36 mins].

Scientists have confirmed 6,000+ exoplanets across thousands of distant planetary systems.

The image on the left <--- is Kepler 7b in comparison to Jupiter.

Kepler-7-b is a hot Jupiter, it's 1.622x the size of Jupiter and its planetary mass is 0.622 Jupiters.

Another example is KOI-884 e, its orbital raidius is 59.9 days [59 days 21 hours and 36 mins]. It's a gas giant, approximately 1.18x the size of Jupiter
